Accounting Structure of a Budget Transaction

Creating an expense budget:

Debit – offsetting budget item (balance sheet) Credit – expense item

Creating a revenue budget:

Debit – revenue item Credit – offsetting budget item (balance sheet)

Make sure that the account’s main account is an expense or income account, otherwise it will not be reflected in the system
